Three esteemed members of 18/10 (Ale, Marco and Mo) have decided to punish themselves (and their respective wives) and entered Eroica Britannia 2016 (19th of June) which starts and ends in Bakewell, Peak District. Since we are young, strong and fearless, we entered the long ride, which according to the official website is 100 miles (160 km) long with an ascent of 9252ft (2821m), 25% of which off road.
This obviously means a new bike to be added to already large personal collections, since a pre-1987 bike is required by the rules. It also means finding vintage clothing, shoes, and accessories. And because we are on a budget, we had to opt for old bikes requiring a lot of TLC, with the promise to fix them, ride them, and then sell them after the ride for a profit… You will be able to follow the restoration progress of both Ale’s 1978 Holdsworth Championship and my (Marco’s) 1983 Raleigh Record Sprint on our blog!
